La Universidad

UENP (State University of the North of Paraná) is one of the recent Brazilian universities founded in 2006. It is an educational institution with the mission of regional development and the idea that science and knowledge transcend geographic boundaries.

The university provides an outstanding performance in teaching, research and extension of services. With a high sense of social commitment, it works for the society’s and its citizens’ development. UENP is maintained by the State Government of Paraná by the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher Education, being one of the seven public universities with free education.

Key Aspects
The heritage of the ancient faculties giving origin to UENP goes much beyond their buildings and installations at the three campuses. There are 23 undergraduate courses with almost 50 years of existence, some being at an excellence level, while others on their way. Nowadays, more than 400 teachers, among them, 108 doctors and 189 masters plus 141 employees,
ensure a solid and dynamic education for 5.200 students. 
The infrastructure of the University is composed of a veterinary hospital, a physical therapy clinic, a model office, auditoriums, classrooms, an experimental farm, and spaces for research, sports activities and leisure. With a total area of 2.225.804.9 m², of which 73.837.92 m² is built-up area, UENP has 55 laboratories with sophisticated technologies for studies and six libraries with a collection of more than 100 thousand books.

UENP receives annually teachers from other countries, such as England, Spain, Portugal, Colombia and Argentina seeking this way international recognition. By understanding the importance of the internationalization process, the institution is in contact with Zicosur University Network (Integration Zone of Southwest and Central America – Zona de Integracion del Centro Oeste Sudamericano), a program that allows mobility for both teacher and student among universities.
Since the constitution of Rector´s Office in 2011, UENP has been growing continuously, with the help of Vice-Rector´s Office, teachers and technical-administrative workers and the enthusiasm of students.
