The International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universitites (GCUB) is an association of the civil society, without gainful purposes,with academic, scientific and cultural feature. It was founded on Octover 29th, 2008, in Brasília – Federal District with the name of Brazilian Universities Coimbra Group. This designation was formally modified on October 30th, 2020, in its Extraordinary Assembly. Nowadays, is composed by 89 Brazilian Universitites.
In Brazil, GCUB’s actions receive the support, among others, of the Ministry of Education (MEC), through the Superior Education Secretary (SESu) and Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement (CAPES); Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC), especially National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq); and Ministry of Outer Relations (MRE), through Division of Educational Themes and Portuguese Language (DELP).
The GCUB mission is to promote academic, scientific and cultural relations between their associated institutions and international partnerships, through the realization of programs, international cooperation projects and actions, bilateral e multilateral. The GCUB’s activities are developed in partnership with International Organizations, Universities, University Networks, Board of Rectors and Government Agencies from more than one hundred countries, located on five continents.
